The map is not a metaphor
The pitch sounds like a skin. Productivity app, spaceship clothes. So let me be precise about the difference.
On first launch, SoloFleet surveys your machine: the coding-agent tools you have installed, the repositories under the folders you point it at, the scheduled jobs already running. Those become the agents on your map. An agent appears because something real exists. You do not get agents you don't have.
That constraint is the whole design. Strategy games work because the map tells the truth about your position. The moment you can decorate the map with wishes, it is a vision board, and vision boards do not need a game engine.
The same rule runs the other way. Progress on the deck is a receipt for work that happened: a run that finished, a task you reviewed, a branch you kept. There is no experience bar to fill and nothing to farm.
My own setup is the first playthrough, and it plays by the same rule: the game is only fun if the fleet is honest.
